About the Role 

Virginkar & Associates, Inc. (VAI) is seeking a Transit Railcar Program Coordinator / Jr Manager to join our team to support component overhaul programs within a rail/transit environment. This role is ideal for a candidate with strong organizational, communication, and analytical skills who thrives in a fast-paced, hands-on setting. The position is full-time and based on-site in Los Angeles.  

Key Responsibilities 

  1. Transit Railcar program management coordinator/manager 

  1. Plan and manage materials for all component overhaul programs 

  1. Coordinate and maintain regular communication with vendors and suppliers 

  1. Track and manage inventory to ensure availability and cost efficiency 

  1. Collaborate with agency technical, management, and procurement staff 

  1. Attend parts, engineering, and production meetings 

  1. Prepare and deliver monthly progress reports for internal and external stakeholders 

  1. Develop and maintain production schedules to meet program timelines 

  1. Conduct vendor site visits to monitor performance and compliance  

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree; engineering major desired. 

  • Minimum 1- 5 years of transit railcar project experience.  

  • Knowledge of LA Metro rail fleets. 

  • Experience or familiarity with materials planning and logistics coordination. 

  • Understanding of component overhaul program planning, production, and scheduling. 

  • Proficiency in compiling, analyzing, and presenting reports, including PowerPoint presentations. 

  • Strong verbal, written, and comprehension skills in English. 

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with senior management, clients, and cross-functional teams. 

  • Valid California Class C driver’s license with a clean driving record. 

  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail. 

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously. 

  • Problem-solving mindset with a proactive approach. 

  • Comfortable working in both office and field (vendor site) environments.
