About the Role 

Virginkar & Associates, Inc. (VAI) is seeking a Scheduler to provide Project Scheduling Support for engineering, procurement and construction projects. The candidate will work under general supervision while participating in setting assignment objectives; work is reviewed for adequacy on completion. Candidate will interact with partnering firms, contractors, clients and public agencies, DOT, and transit providers. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Create and update CPM schedules. 

  • Collect and update data and update and produce scheduling reports. 

  • Supports monthly report preparation. 

  • Support gathering and assembling data for schedule planning. 

  • Support measurement of project schedule progress and gathers and assembles data for schedule and network updating. 

  • Support analysis of schedule, identifies and investigates project schedule variances. 

  • Identify potential scheduling risks and provide recommendations for mitigation. 

  • Coordinate the project’s earned value system with schedule updates. 

  • Gather data for schedule baseline development and maintenance. 

  • Communicate schedule status on a regular basis via formal and informal meetings and reports. 

  • May participate in planning and scheduling meetings to gain insight into planning and scheduling issues. 

  • Analyze CPM schedules and recommend workarounds and schedule improvement and / or recommendations. 

  • Interact with engineering and construction personnel to understand and communicate issues and conflicts that impact the schedule. 

Qualifications 

  • B.S. in engineering plus 5-7 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.  

  • Experience using Oracle, Primavera P6 / Contract Management, Sequence Enterprise, Procore, ProjectWise, Hexagon EcoSys or other scheduling software. Certification is preferred. 

  • Knowledgeable of planning and scheduling concepts and principles, including effects on financial performance. 

  • Familiar with data sources and supports basic schedule development. 

  • Experience in engineering and/or construction work process and activity sequence. 

  • Experience in using and understanding earned value progress. 

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills. 

  • Familiarity with FTA’s standard cost categories (SCC). 

  • Familiar with construction drawings, specifications and construction contracting methods. 

  • Understands CPM Scheduling concepts and principles and can develop basic engineering, procurement and construction logic. 

  • Understands concepts and principles of scope control and change management and earned value methodology.  

  • Familiar with scheduling government type contracts such as Caltrans, BART and LACMTA. 

  • High Integrity. 

  • Detail Oriented. 

  • Ability to travel.
